Today I brought out the Nikon COOLPIX S1100pj.
This camera has the typical CCD sensor image quality of compact digital cameras from around 2010, and a built-in projector, which makes it quite unique even by today's standards.
It's not just about taking pictures.
It's a camera designed to share what you've captured with others on the spot.
So, I took this slightly unusual camera and went for a walk around town.

The first thing I pointed the lens at was a large crane stretching into the sky.
Modern cameras might capture images more sharply, more accurately, and more vividly. However, the COOLPIX S1100pj's depiction has a slightly soft, understated quality.
Reds aren't too gaudy, blue skies evoke a sense of nostalgia, and outlines are just a touch gentler. Compact digital cameras from this era possess such charm.
The COOLPIX S1100pj doesn't have a large sensor like a high-end compact camera. The background doesn't melt into a large bokeh, nor is it strong in low light.
Nevertheless, it suits these casual subjects very well.
When I pressed the shutter towards the strong sun, the screen instantly became a white blur.
The outlines of buildings dissolved, the sky blew out, and only the lines on the road barely remained.
Normally, this might be called a failed photo. But isn't this what the memory of a dazzlingly bright day actually feels like?
Conclusion — To see photos together again
The appeal of the COOLPIX S1100pj isn't just in its image quality.
This camera has a built-in projector. You can project the photos you've taken onto a wall or other surface directly from the camera. This is a very rare feature nowadays.
Now that viewing photos on smartphones has become commonplace, photos are consumed individually on small screens.
I think projecting the photos you've taken on the spot and viewing them with someone else can be a source of enjoyment. This might be one of the few cameras that tries to treat photos not as "data" but as an "experience" once again.
